Application for the Jack H. Taylor Scholarship in Physics

Through the Taylor Scholarship in Physics, the Department of Physics at Rhodes College provides talented high school physics students the means to continue their investigations at the college level. At least one scholarship will be offered to a first-year student each year, and the scholarship is renewed annually for three years if renewal requirements are satisfied.

As a Taylor Scholar, a student will

•         Receive up to $15,000 per year in addition to any other Rhodes scholarship or grant.
•         Provide five hours per week of service to the Department of Physics.
•         Make satisfactory progress toward a major or minor in Physics.
•         Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

A teacher (preferred) or project supervisor must also send a recommendation letter that discusses your interest and potential for success in science. The recommendation must be sent by the recommender directly to Associate Professor of Physics David Rupke by email (rupked@rhodes.edu) or mail:
